“Legion Heirs” - The Roaring Muse

A veteran of an interstellar war finds himself a vagabond on an unfamiliar agrarian planet.

“Morphea” - From Heaven to Hell

Using a diner as a not-so-elaborate facade, the Devil and his mindless succubi try fruitlessly to capture a group of teenagers. This collaboration was released as a short piece in a larger comic anthology. (Under the name “Kel Sangster.”)

Editing

Wake Magazine

I worked as Literary Assistant for the University of Minnesota’s student magazine from 2005-2006. During this time I wrote pieces in defense of graphic novels as literature, book reviews, and The Onion-esque parody pieces. (Under the name “Kel Sangster.”)

Liminal

From 2005-2006, I was executive editor for the literary and art journal, Liminal. I contributed to editorial selection of pieces for inclusion in the journal, helped with grant writing, and used InDesign to design the layout of the journal itself. (Under the name “Kel Sangster.”)

Public speaking

“Geek Girls” Kakkoi-con

I led a panel discussion at Kakkoi-con, an anime convention in Minneapolis, about women in a local comic book, anime, and gaming subculture, and how their experiences with “geekdom” shaped their identities.

“Fictive Fiction: A content analysis of Cowboy Bebop” - SGMS/Mechademia

I conducted a content analysis of Cowboy Bebop, investigating how the hit late 1990’s anime series used family symbolism to create interesting character dynamics, and led a panel discussion on this topic at SGMS/Mechademia, an annual conference at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD).
