About
I’m Achilles Sangster. I’m a writer of character-driven speculative fiction and contemporary fantasy. My pronouns are he/him/his.
My previous publishing credits include short fiction in the The Roaring Muse, as well as articles in Wake Magazine. I also served as executive editor for the literary journal, Liminal. I’ve been known, on occasion, to do public speaking arrangements on nerd stuff, usually anime and comic books.
My literary ethos is that stories should be accessible and illustrative, and that writers should strive to make immersive, engaging page-turners for broad audiences. Sometimes that means falling back on straightforward minimalism, but other times it means using flourish, or playing on the tendency of some readers to stop and re-read something they think they missed.
I hold a BA in anthropology from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in library science from the University of Maryland. Currently, I work remotely as a digital librarian from my home in northern Minnesota.
I spend what little free time I have wrangling my kids, lifting weights in my garage, and enjoying dorky Canadian sci-fi shows with my wife.
